Barbering – Evenings
The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skills and competence to use barbering techniques, tools and equipment to create men’s hairstyles within the hairdressing and barbering industry, operating independently while under general supervision.
Employability Statement
The successful completion of the 5N3348 Barbering Techniques will enable learners to enter into the work area of Barbering.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of the Training Module learners will be able to:-
1. Apply health and safety procedures when carrying out a barbering service for male clients.
2.Effectively and safely use the full range of tools and equipment as appropriate to conduct the required cutting, styling, and/or trimming techniques in line with client requirements.
3. Discuss scalp, skin conditions and disorders.
4. Carry out client consultation to determine client requirements.
5. Demonstrate a range of cutting techniques as applied to men’s hairstyles.
6. Discuss men’s beards and demonstrate the cutting/trimming techniques applicable to achieve the desired facial shape.
This course will take place every Monday and Wednesday from 06:30 pm – 09:30 pm for 15 weeks. Please note candidates must have very good written and verbal English for exam purposes. Candidates will also have to supply their own male models for exam purposes.
Candidates who are in employment wishing to take a place on this course may qualify for the Skills to Advance Initiative where a fee waiver applies once certain criteria is met.
