Candle Community Trust is a training centre providing programmes to address anti-social attitudes and behaviours amongst young adults. The Full Time Training Programme offers a range of educational and developmental modules for young people between the ages of 16 to 20. There are 20 places available and the duration of the programme is initially one year.
Young adults aged between 16 and 20 years and characterised as being ’at risk’ of offending. Referrals normally come from Probation Services (Irish Youth Justice Service & Juvenile Liaison Officers), Health Services Executive, local agencies, family and through self-referral. Each young person is assigned an individual keyworker who provides opportunities for planning, support and mentoring. During training great emphasis is placed upon developmental needs in addition to educational attainment.
The QQI/FETAC Major Award in Employability Skills (Level 3) is awarded to those who successfully complete the required syllabus. Some FETAC Level 4 modules are also available.
