The QQI level 5 Award in Culture and Heritage Studies is an award winning course that combines theory with practical training in tour guiding in the National Print Museum.
Participants study a diverse range of subjects including Heritage, Archaeology, Folklore, Irish Culture, and Local History, alongside training and working as a tour-guide in one of Irelands most unique museums.
Significant value is placed on practical and transferable skills; learners complete Customer Service, Communications, Work Experience, Letterpress Printing, Manual Handling and First Aid programmes.
Programme Aim
The Major Award in in Cultural and Heritage Studies enables learners to gain the knowledge, skill and competence to enter into the cultural, tourism and heritage workforces, or to progress to further and higher education and training.
Employability Statement
Many course graduates go on to work as Tour Guides within major sites around the city such as 14 Henrietta Street, Malahide Castle, EPIC, Airfield, IMMA and OPW sites such as Dublin Castle and Farmleigh whilst others progress further along the educational spectrum and have taken places in Trinity College, UCD, DIT, GMIT and Maynooth University.
Please note, this course has no attached fees and those eligible will receive a training allowance for its duration.
