ST VINCENTS COMMUNITY TRAINING CENTRE – VTCT LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATE IN BARBERING

This full-time educational program is designed for individuals aged 16 to 21, particularly targeting early school leavers. Its objective is to offer training opportunities that equip learners with essential skills and competencies. This preparation enables participants to secure entry-level employment or to advance to further education and training.

This qualification will develop your knowledge, understanding and skills to enable you to advise and consult with men on the type of hair-cut and facial hair shaping the way they want, but just as importantly what is suitable for them. You will also learn how to work in a safe manner throughout the service protecting both yourself and your clients.

The purpose of this qualification is to develop your practical skills to a high level of occupational ability to enable you to perform your own salon services.

This qualification will prepare the student for employment as a trainee junior unisex barber/hairdresser. On completion of this qualification you will widen your career opportunities from working as a barber/hairdresser to be able to offer unisex services through a variety of contexts, including:
– Working in a unisex hair salon
– Working independently/self-employed/mobile/home-based settings

This qualification is the only VTCT qualification focused on developing the skills of qualified hairdressers to enter the men’s hairdressing sector.
